Sexual Harassment Awareness & Prevention

What is sexual harassment?

Sexual harassment is when a worker is sexually harassed in his or her workplace, or places where workers are gathered for work-related purposes including social activity. According to a recent survey by FWRM,  one in five women interviewed (20%) had experienced sexual harassment in the workplace with high incidences with young women and in the hospitality industry.  To find out more about sexual harassment, check out our Resource Page.

  • The Sexual Harassment Awareness and Prevention Training - This is an initiative undertaken by FWRM to increase the awareness of and prevent the incidence of sexual harassment in the workplace. FWRM’s internationally designed toolkit through local evidence generation will help organisations increase their awareness and develop their own sexual harassment policies. It is a paid service.

  • Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH) Workshop - Organisations need to build an internal culture that does not tolerate sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment of any kind. This applies to our own organisation and extends to those that we work with. The PSEAH workshop is packaged to strengthen an organisation’s approach to safeguarding – by enhancing accountability, improving support for those who are affected, and driving cultural change through strong leadership.  FWRM works with organisations to develop a PSEAH Policy to establish a strong framework that can drive change and support best practice across your organisation. This is a paid service.

Why are these training important?According to Fiji’s Employment Relations Promulgation (2007), 76 (2) - an employer must develop and maintain a policy to prevent sexual harassment in his or her workplace. FWRM’s tailor-made training can help your organisation understand sexual harassment and its prevalence in the workplace; and develop and design your own internal policies on sexual harassment.
